Many of us have had to take pills for one sickness or the other. It could be for an ache or pain; to correct a disorder; to lower blood pressure; as a nutrient supplement; or even to sleep and we are ever grateful to advances in science and medicine that has made those pills available to us in times of sickness. A trip to the doctor or pharmacist, prescription and purchase are often what is needed to access the pills and to use as prescribed. Now imagine someone who contracted a deadly disease for which there is a tested, trusted and proven cure in form of pills but who refused to take the pills, or neglected them. What end awaits such person?
Likewise, everyone born of a woman is sick of a sickness called SIN (Romans 3:10-18,23). We contracted the sickness from the first man who disobeyed God and ate the fruit he was commanded not to eat (Genesis 2:16,17;3:1-6). Since then, the nature of this sickness called sin has lived in man and its’ symptoms are what we see in and around us: violence, chaos, rebellion, hatred, jealousy, selfishness, emptiness, envy pride, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, strife, dispute, drunkenness, reveling and such like (Galatians 5:19-21, Romans 5:12-14,18,19). Man’s best effort has failed to cure him of this deadly sickness whose end is eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23, Hebrew 9:27).
However, it is not all a tale of woes. God, in His great mercy and love, having seen man’s condition has provided a cure for this sickness in the form of a pill called God’s pill, or Gospel. He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ in the form of flesh to suffer and pay the price of our healing. On the cross of Calvary, Christ paid the ultimate price, was buried, and resurrected on the third day having obtained eternal redemption for us. Just before His death on the cross, He cried: “… It is finished…” (John 19:30), signifying the end of our struggle with sin and the provision of the pill for our cure: Gospel.
Now, as with any other pill, all we need do is to open our mouth and take it in. To take God’s pill, all anyone who longs to be free from sin needs do is to open his mouth and confess the Lord Jesus while believing in his heart that God raised Him from the death and he shall be saved (Romans 10:9). All that is needed is to open your mouth, confess your sins to God, ask Him to wash and cleanse you with the blood of Christ and then invite Jesus to come into your heart and be your personal Lord and Savior. AND YOU WILL BE SAVED. Will you neglect this tested, trusted and proven pill?
“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him?” – Hebrews 2:3
