“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” – Romans 5:6 (KJV)
To be without strength is to be helpless, powerless, weak, feeble, ailing. Here, bible is giving us the picture of every natural man born into the world, without Christ: He is without strength. He is helpless. He is powerless, He is weak and feeble. He is unable to help himself.
But, without strength for what? Without strength to overcome sin. Without strength to please God. Without strength to say No to sin and bad habits. Without strength to live the clean and peaceful life that he desires. Without strength to stop doing the bad things he longs to overcome. Without strength to do the good things that he desires. Without strength to say No to sin and temptation. Without strength.
Have you ever wondered why you find it difficult to live the good life that you desire and stop doing the bad things that you hate? Have you wondered why you find it difficult to stop smoking, drinking, taking drugs, stealing, partying, getting mad at people, cursing, fighting, lying, backbiting, watching pornography, masturbating, lusting, fornicating, and other evil vices?… It is because you are without strength. You don’t have the strength in yourself to say No to these bad habits. What is missing is not your will or desire but the strength to do good. Every natural man born into this world faces this struggle: though he wants to do good, he finds that sin is present in him; he is without strength.
However, God has not left you stranded and helpless in this condition. He sees your condition and have made the provision for you to receive strength to live right. This provision is through His Son, Jesus Christ. God, having seen the dilemma of man, sent his only begotten Son Jesus into the world to die for our sins that we might receive strength to say No to sin and live right. Romans 5:8 says that God proves His love towards us that Christ died for us while we were yet without strength in sin. God so much love you that He has made the necessary provision for you to receive strength through His Son Jesus.
How then can you receive this strength? By accepting Jesus into your life as your personal Lord and Savior. John 1: 12 tells us that Christ gives everyone that receive Him power and strength to become the sons of God. This is the power you need to live right. This is the strength you need to overcome sin and temptations. This is the power you need to say No to sin and every bad habits. When you accept Christ, He comes into your heart and makes you strong. He gives you strength.
To receive Christ, all you need do is to confess your sins to God. Tell Him how you have struggled to live right but have repeatedly failed. Then believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Believe in His death on the cross through which He has made strength available unto all. Next, invite Jesus into your life. Tell Him to come into your life and be your Lord and Savior. Tell Him to come and give you strength to live right. Tell Him to come and take His place in your heart. When you do this, Jesus will come into your heart and give you the strength to live a godly life. Many have already taken this step and are now with strength. Wouldn’t you want to be part of this?
Shalom.
